Visceral Manipulation was developed by a French Osteopath named Jean-Pierre Barral.
Barral discovered that structural relationships such as Musculoskeletal, Spinal and Cranial would self-correct after proper Visceral Manipulation. Bringing movement to the viscera (organs) which affect many body systems. We have come to learn we are not separate body systems (circulatory, nervous, cranial...etc.) we are a complete interacting system.

Organs in good health have physological motion!
Jean-Pierre's research is Scientific and well respected throughout the Osteopathic world. Barral discovered the significant relationship between Viscera and Somatic Disfunction (also referred to as: muscle pain, skin pain or tissue pain).
Dr. Barral met Dr. Upledger in France where they created a working relationship. Jean-Pierre then came to the United States and shared his discoveries with the students of The Upledger Institute. This began a teaching relationship that benifits the education and skills of the students of the Upledger Institute, which of course is a direct benifit to the clients.

In the healing arts we are always students of our clients...
As time moved forward Jean-Pierre came into his place here in the United States and now contributes to the International Association of Healthcare Practioners IHAP through
The Barral Institute.
The benifits of Visceral Manipulation are and not limited to:
Acute Disorders
-
Whiplash/Seatbelt injuries
-
Sports injuries to the chest or abdomen
Digestive Disorders
-
Constipation/Bloating
-
Nausea/Acid Refluc
Children disorders
-
Bedwetting
-
Including any of the above...and much more.
"The purpose of Visceral Manipulaiton is to recreate, harmonize and increase proprioceptive communication in the body to enhance it's internal mechanism for better health"
Jean-Pierre Barral, D.O.
Visceral Manipulation is a manual therapy consisting of gentle, specifically placed manual forces that encourage normal movement, tone and inherent tissue motion of the viscera-organs, their connective tissue and other areas of the body where physiologic motion has been restricted.
Visceral Manipulation is an intregal part of the integration of modalitites that has become my style of Manual Therapy...KPC
